Life in the God’s Calling!

LaMarr began attending our Tuesday weekly Reentry support meetings at The Front Porch Café three years ago. He had recently returned from incarceration and was looking for assistance in making his transition as smooth as possible.

He understood from his first meeting that he would have to do the heavy lifting, and that in order to be restored he would have a long, winding, bumpy road ahead. But that didn’t deter him.

With a strong faith in God and a commitment to do whatever necessary to change his life, LaMarr allowed us to be part of his journey of facing and overcoming obstacles that many other men and women have often fallen to. Time and again, he proved through his actions and wisdom that he was not only meant to participate in the Reentry program at South Street, but that he was the ideal person to take a leadership role here as well.

It’s been a huge blessing to see LaMarr maximize his resources in his own quest for restoration, but more importantly utilize his gifts to assist others.

LaMarr says today: “Describing my new job as Reentry Liason is somewhat of a challenge. Why? Because God has reminded me of why I am in this work — why I do Reentry. To me, it isn’t a job — this is my calling … to give to my community, to help rebuild what I used to destroy. So today, I can write that it is a humbling experience to be in my calling and name it as a job. I thank the Father for the folks he surrounded me with to help live in this calling.”

Thank you for making transformation like this possible!
