For 26 remarkable years, South Street Ministries has stood alongside the South Akron, Summit Lake, and Kenmore communities, transforming lives through small acts done with great love.
This year, we embrace the wisdom of Mother Teresa who said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” With this sentiment at the heart of our mission, we introduce our “Small Things with Great Love” campaign, focusing on the expansion of our Bike Shop program and the strategic development of RICH Kids, our intensive youth program.
The Next Chapter of our Bike Shop Program
Chris Usner, our newly appointed Bike Shop Director, is spearheading our Bike Shop program expansion. The vision extends beyond bikes: we aim to empower families and youth with invaluable skills and create a community of cycle lovers.
We plan to create a youth cohort for repair and maintenance training in partnership with regional bike suppliers. Simultaneously, we aim to purchase a mobile unit for on-the-go bike repair services. Ultimately, we hope to enhance biking safety, and equity – and organize community events.
RICH Kids – Our Heartbeat, Our Commitment, Our Future
RICH Kids is the vibrant pulse of South Street Ministries, exemplifying our philosophy of small acts, and great love. RICH Kids is our most time-intensive program, meeting for at least two hours, four days a week over the fall, spring, and summer months! We strive to remove any barriers to the success and well-being of the youth we serve.
As we move forward, our ambition is to sustain our staff and strategically plan for our future. We have received funding to facilitate the strategic planning of RICH Kids, as well as a sustainability plan to empower and endure the program.
The key to our success is not only in the funds we secure for activities but also in building a sustained and empowered team that can consistently deliver love and support to our youth.

Our most crucial need is sustainable support for our staff – the heart of South Street Ministries. Grants often fund activities, but we need continuous backing for our staff, the ones who bring about the change every day.
